May in Monmouth County, NJ has created a special breast cancer awareness initiative called Paint the Town Pink. Storefronts feature pink displays. Street medians are painted pink instead of yellow. Pink bows hang from trees. And each town adapts a cute little pink name. For the next month, I will be a resident of Pinktune City, NJ (see you in June, Neptune!). Which got me thinking how more pink foods can be incorporated into your home this month to help raise awareness towards the role of nutrition in cancer prevention. I grew up nearby and now permanently live at the Jersey Shore. I often have to remind myself I live somewhere where people vacation. Teaching SUP yoga and lessons often reminds me of this fact when I meet people who live near no body of water. We have beaches, restaurants, festivals, and music that causes this already active community to come alive even more once Memorial Day Weekend hits. And what summertime date would be complete without ice cream???
