February gives us a new month and some new goals. Since this is Heart Month AND Valentine’s Day falls right in the middle, this month’s goals are all about connecting with your Significant Other. Get ready to follow along all month long to my new monthly series: TWO-gethness Tips. Since this is a blog with a focus on food and nutrition, we’re kicking off the series with TWO-gethness Tip #1: Eat Together at a Table
Wow. January is, like, over. Done. Bye Bye! One Bombcyclone, several below 10 degree days, a few podcast episodes in the can, and many nights of staying in to Netflix ‘N Chill with Mr E helped pass the cold days. For the final addition in my NEW-trition Goals for the New Year series, I wanted to address something that is definitely becoming as much of a food trend as it is a health and environmental matter. As I wrote about in my FNCE recap, plant-based protein is where it’s at this year. So, without further ado, I present to you NEW-trition Goal for the New Year #4: LEAN OUT THE MEAT
Oh mid-January. That time of year where the magic of the holidays is long gone. Not only are we dealing with saying bye-bye to the fun vibe of the holidays, but the time has come where those darn credit card bills have come rolling in. Now it’s time to pay for all those awesome gifts you didn’t care what they cost as long as they made the other person happy. Which is why it’s a great time to address NEW-trition Goal for the New Year #3 this week: CUT FOOD COSTS
If you’re blessed to live somewhere that is warm and sunny year-round, I envy you. For the rest of us who deal with bitterly cold weather and snow this time of year, the only things keeping me and Mr E sane are Netflix, playoff football, and belly-warming foods. And this time of year, there’s nothing we look forward to more on a cold weather day than one of the best food combos created: Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup.
We’ve made it to mid-January, that crucial time when people are either going to stay on track with their goals for the new year, or are abandoning them (or perhaps they never got off the ground). My intention of doing this NEW-trition Goals series this month is to continue to give small goals and motivation that can be worked on over the year, not just this week or this month. So if you haven’t had a chance getting to last week’s goal of Cook More at Home, then good news – you’ve got plenty more weeks and days in the year to make it happen. Remember- even one more day of doing something positive can make a difference. This week’s goal is one that many people have on their radars for 2018: MEAL PLANNING AND PREPPING
Happy New Year to all my couples out there! The other day I discussed what you can do MORE of in 2018. For the month of January, I will be sharing one new goal a week as part of my New-trition Goals for the New Year series. Each week I’ll be discussing a key goal you can work on as a couple to set you up for a successful 2018 when it comes to your health goals. This week’s goal is: COOK MORE AT HOME
